Responsibilities
As a Medical Records Specialist, here’s a big-picture view of what you’ll do:
- Act as a key contact for patients, families, and staff—providing timely and accurate information.
- Organize and manage patient records by reviewing, scanning, indexing, and archiving documents.
- Support field staff and managers with clerical tasks like faxing, filing, and report prep.
- Assist with patient referrals, mailings, and other interdepartmental communications.
- Process medical record requests and ensure HIPAA compliance.
- Back up clinical support tasks such as lab faxing and order tracking.
