We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller to join our finance team. In this role, you will ensure accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. Responsibilities
What you'll do as an Assistant Controller:

- Help oversee and support accounting team with leadership that creates an enjoyable and exciting work environment.
- Completion of monthly financial reports and reconciliations.
- Review and approve certain general ledger entries prepared by other staff members.
- Assist with month end close.
- Supervise accounts payable administrator and senior cash receipts specialist.
- Cash management functions including bank reconciliations and credit card management.
- Responsible for daily cash spreadsheet projecting cash needs for the coming month.
- Continual research to establish and/or recommend improvements in assigned areas.
- Prepares professional statistical reports or other management tools to convey trends within each process of the department.
- Assist Director of Finance in formalized training to staff as review of current processes/changes to current process to maintain high level of compliance within the Accounting Department operations.
- Maintain confidentiality associated with management responsibilities and discussions.
- Operate in a high degree of professionalism at all times.
- Adhere to and meet deadlines associated with the priorities and objectives of the department and business goals.
- Communicate process variances and changes to Chief Financial Officer, Director of Finance, and Accounting Personnel, as applicable as financial work is performed.
- Maintain current Policy and Procedures for own job responsibilities.
- Maintain appropriate documentation in an organized and efficient manner (mostly electronic).
- Actively seek to improve skills, communication, and teamwork.
- Exchange information with agency departments that may impact the financial reporting within the Accounting Department.
- Self initiative to research/evaluate/analyze improvements in personal skills and process efficiencies.

Skills & Qualifications
- Accounting degree
- Minimum of five years’ progressive experience in accounting
- Minimum of one-year supervisory experience
- Intermediate knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
