Why You'll Love This Job

Hospice Volunteer Opportunity: Become an 11th Hour Volunteer

Because no one should have to die alone. At Interim HealthCare, we’re inviting a select group of individuals to serve in one of the most meaningful roles we offer: the 11th Hour Volunteer.

This isn’t your typical volunteer opportunity. It’s a calling. A quiet, sacred privilege. As an 11th Hour Hospice Volunteer, you won’t provide medical care—our expert hospice clinical team is there for that. Your role is something different, and just as vital: to be present in the final moments of a person’s life.
  • To be a steady presence at the bedside of someone nearing the end of life.
  • To hold a hand, read a poem, play music—or simply share in silence.
  • To ensure that no one takes their final breath alone.
What Makes This Role Unique:
  • You’ll receive specialized end-of-life training
  • You’ll be supported by an experienced and compassionate hospice team
  • You’ll be invited into one of life’s most sacred moments
  • Flexible scheduling based on your availability
This is more than a volunteer role—it’s a rare opportunity to show up in the most human way possible.
Not everyone is called to this work. But if you feel a quiet tug on your heart reading this—if you believe no one should have to die alone—we invite you to apply.

Because being there… is everything.

Responsibilities

Why We Need You:
Many of our hospice patients live in assisted or independent living communities, where staff provide excellent care—but can’t always be at the bedside 24/7. Family members may live far away or are unable to be there in time. That’s where you come in.

  • You’ll be there when no one else can.
  • You’ll offer peace to the patient—and comfort to the family.
  • You’ll hold space in one of life’s most sacred transitions.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Deep sense of compassion and empathy for those at end of life.
  • Comfort with silence, presence, and emotional stillness.
  • Reliable, dependable, and able to commit to being present when needed.
  • Respect for diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and end-of-life wishes.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
